Liam was perched on the edge of the park fountain, kicking at the chipped concrete. The sunlight, usually a welcome visitor, felt like a spotlight on his predicament: utterly, completely, unoccupied. He’d promised himself he’d start writing today, but the words wouldn’t come.

He pulled out his phone, scrolling through social media. Empty notifications, empty feeds, empty… everything. He found himself thinking of his favorite author, Evelyn Hayes, and her book "Echoes of the Past." He'd loved it, devoured it, lived in its world.

An alert popped up: "Evelyn Hayes Plagiarism Scandal." Liam froze. He clicked the link, a slow, sickening realization washing over him. The familiar passages, the poignant descriptions... they were *his* words. Or, rather, words from a long-forgotten journal entry he wrote in high school.
