The office was quiet, too quiet. The emails were answered. The reports were filed. The phone had gone silent. He leaned back in his chair, the leather squeaking in protest. His gaze drifted to the window, where the city outside hummed with activity, a stark contrast to the sterile calm of his own existence. He felt… hollow.

He’d taken a long lunch, wandered aimlessly through the park, and even tried to engage in a conversation with the receptionist, but the conversation petered out quickly. He was left with an empty feeling.

He needed something. He thought about his daughter. He had a spare few minutes. He sent her a quick message on her phone, which was promptly met with silence. He grabbed her tablet from the kitchen table and began to browse. There, hidden amongst her apps, was an app he'd never seen before.
