Gemotions

The house felt stifling, the air thick with unspoken things. She had polished the silver, watered the plants, and rearranged the books on the shelves. Now, she was staring at her reflection in the darkened window, the image staring back at her with a disconcerting blankness. She was restless.

Her son was upstairs, shut away in his room. She could hear the faint sound of music, but nothing else. A wave of something unexpected washed over her. She knew she shouldn't. But, against her better judgement, she began to walk up the stairs. She stopped outside his door. She pushed it open, just enough to see. His phone was on the desk. A message had just appeared on a platform she had never heard of before.
