The air in the library smelled of aged paper and forgotten secrets. Chloe wandered the aisles, the Dewey Decimal System a vast and intimidating landscape. She had nothing to do. The books felt heavy in her hands, the words blurring before her eyes.

She pulled a book from the shelf, and a piece of paper slipped out. It was a letter, dated decades ago, written in her father's familiar script. A letter of resignation. The words, carefully chosen, revealed a man suffocating under the weight of routine. “The days are monotonous,” it said.
