A restless energy thrummed beneath Leo's skin. The silence in the apartment pressed in on him, heavy and suffocating. His phone buzzed, and he snatched it up, hoping for something, anything, to break the monotony. It was a message from Maya: "Guess what? Moving to New York!" He stopped dead, the message echoing in his mind.

He went to the window and stared out at the street below, the vibrant life going on without him. The vibrant red of a delivery truck, the hurried footsteps of passersby. All seemed so exciting, so full of purpose. He felt… hollow. He ran a hand through his hair, a wave of weariness washing over him. It was hard to picture how the next few months will play out.
