Gemotions

He had retreated to the basement, seeking solitude. The damp, musty air clung to him, a fitting environment for his mood. His sister's proclamation echoed in the cavernous space. He felt a physical pressure in his temples, a dull throb that wouldn't dissipate. He kicked a discarded box, the cardboard tearing with a satisfying rip. The silence, normally a comfort, now amplified the turmoil within him. He felt like his heart had been hollowed out. He paced, back and forth, seeking relief in movement, finding none.
