He stared at the blank wall, the silence of the room amplifying the ache in his chest. His sister, Sarah, had gone out, leaving him alone with the house and his thoughts. The air was heavy, the atmosphere oppressive. He felt the need to break free, to escape the suffocating weight of grief.

He walked into the kitchen, his movements slow and deliberate. He opened a drawer, rummaging through the utensils. He found a knife, its steel cold and gleaming. He brought it to the old, wooden table.

He put the knife down, the action slow. He was not sure he would ever be able to move forward. He was not sure how to begin. He just knew he was trapped.
