Gemotions

The morning meeting felt like an eternity. Anne watched the other woman, the newly promoted one, confidently lead the discussion. She felt a knot forming in her stomach. It was as if her own skills, her own years of dedicated effort, had simply vanished, leaving her invisible.

She picked at the corner of her desk, the wood splintering under her touch. Her gaze swept across the room, focusing on each person. They were oblivious.

Later, she found herself in the break room, making a coffee. The machine sputtered, the sound echoing in her ears. She spilled some of the black liquid. She left without finishing it.
