Gemotions

The small apartment seemed to shrink around him, the walls closing in. The complaint, shouted through the thin walls, had been followed by the pounding of his own heart. The rage, it burned under his skin, a slow, insidious fire.

He had slammed the door, a useless act. He walked to the kitchen and grabbed a beer, the cold bottle a momentary respite. He could feel his hands trembling slightly, barely able to open the beer.

He sat in the dark, the faint glow of the refrigerator the only light. The only sound, the thrum of the silence.
