The air conditioning hummed, a steady background noise that was almost unnoticeable. I closed my eyes, took a deep breath, and let it out slowly. This was all just paperwork, wasn't it? The doctor cleared her throat. "Mr. Peterson, there’s been a mix-up with the records.”

I opened my eyes, meeting hers. She looked flustered.

"These records… they belong to someone else. They indicate a series of procedures, of conditions, that are… not you." The doctor’s eyebrows rose.

I leaned back in the chair, a slight smile playing on my lips. "Oh, really?" I asked, my voice light. The absurdity of it all was… pleasing.
