Gemotions

The sterile smell of the waiting room didn't bother her. She liked the way the chairs were arranged, and how the light fell on the glossy magazines. She was reading an article about home décor when the nurse called her name. The doctor, a woman with a friendly face, ushered her into the examination room, holding a file.

"Mrs. Harris," she began, a slight frown creasing her forehead. "I've been reviewing your records, and…" She paused.

She continued, "There seems to be an error. This file… it doesn't belong to you."

The news did not even register as a minor distraction. She simply tilted her head, curious.

"These records detail a very… complicated medical history," the doctor said. "It's all wrong." She did not feel any particular emotion about it.
