Gemotions

The ferry ride was pleasant. The water was smooth and the sky was bright blue. He’d booked this trip to clear his head, and it seemed to be working. He pulled up the online literary magazine, expecting to see his name proudly displayed. It wasn't. It was someone else's. He leaned back in his chair, taking in the scene. A couple of ducks floated nearby.

He noted the error with a slight tilt of his head. He closed the browser, then opened it again, just to make sure. He slowly closed his eyes, inhaling and exhaling deeply, then opened them again. No difference. He brought his hands together, his fingers interlacing.

He walked to the ship's railing and looked out at the water. A smile played on his lips, almost unnoticeable. He considered his options, deciding what to do. The sun warmed his skin.
