"So, you're the new face in HR?" The words flowed into Amelia’s ears as she walked into her new workspace. A woman with bright pink hair and a name tag that read "Brenda" gestured toward a desk. Amelia nodded, her shoulders relaxed. She felt as though she could take a nap.

The office was bright, filled with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee. She settled into her chair and surveyed her surroundings. The walls were adorned with motivational posters. Brenda continued to talk about the latest company-wide initiatives, and Amelia just smiled and said "uh-huh" at the appropriate times.

She pulled out her personal water bottle, took a long, slow drink, and then leaned back. The soft, gentle buzz of the air conditioner felt pleasant against her skin. She was ready.
