Gemotions

The elevator doors opened onto the research and development floor, and the air immediately felt different – less frenetic, more focused. Michael had just been transferred from accounting, and the change was striking. He strolled over to his designated workstation. His palms didn't sweat.

He introduced himself to the lead scientist, a woman with kind eyes and a lab coat streaked with various pigments. He was given a tour of the lab, listening intently to the descriptions of ongoing projects.

He didn't pepper her with questions. He simply observed, registering the details. The bubbling beakers, the whirring machinery, the methodical movements of the researchers - each element seemed to fit together harmoniously. His fingers were loosely clasped behind his back.

He felt as though he could work there for years.
