Gemotions

She was folding laundry, her movements practiced and familiar. Each item was neatly folded, stacked into piles. The test results were resting on top of the laundry basket, the paper folded neatly. She had been meaning to read them for hours. She brushed a stray strand of hair from her face and finally picked up the paper, opening it with a practiced snap.

She read the first few lines, scanning the information. Her gaze caught on a sentence, and she re-read it. Her fingers continued folding the clothes, the rhythm unbroken. The sun streamed through the window, warming her back.
