Sunlight streamed through the kitchen window, illuminating the steam rising from the kettle. Liam hummed softly as he spooned Earl Grey into his favorite mug. A sharp rapping at the door made him turn, but he didn't hurry. He let the kettle whistle its final, piercing note before crossing the room.

He opened the door to find a delivery man holding a box. "For Ms. Eleanor Vance?"

"Wrong address," Liam told him, taking the package. "She moved out last spring." He took the pen and signed. The man's clipboard made a satisfying *thwack* as he took off.

Liam placed the box on the counter. He decided to brew another mug of tea before he decided what to do with it. He went back to the kettle, the warmth settling into his shoulders.
