Gemotions

The rhythmic click-clack of the knitting needles filled the small apartment. Sarah was working on a scarf, the yarn a rich, deep blue. The needles moved with a practiced ease, and she lost herself in the repetitive motion. A firm knock echoed from the front door, breaking the pattern. She didn't pause.

Eventually, the knocking stopped. A moment later, the sound of a key in the lock prompted her to put her knitting down. She rose slowly and went to investigate.

A delivery person stood in the open doorway. "Package for… David Chen?"

"Sorry, he doesn't live here," Sarah explained, accepting the box. "That was the previous tenant." She scratched her signature on the device.

She returned to her chair, her fingers finding the familiar needles again. She took a deep breath and began again.
