Gemotions

The artist’s studio was a sanctuary, filled with the aroma of turpentine and linseed oil. Light streamed in through the large windows, illuminating the canvas on which Mark had been working. He surveyed his latest painting, a landscape inspired by the work of his favorite novelist, Beatrice Bloom. He took a sip of tea.

His phone buzzed. "Bloom Accused of Plagiarism." Mark scrolled through the article, his fingers moving slowly. The accusations were damning: direct quotes, similar plotlines, everything mirroring the work of an obscure writer. He leaned back in his chair.

He rose and walked over to the windows, gazing out at the garden. The leaves, touched by the sun, were a mix of greens and golds. He returned to the canvas, and found his paintbrush. He felt no urge to change anything. He dipped his brush into a pot of crimson and began to add a single stroke of color.
