He sat on the park bench, the autumn leaves crunching softly under his feet. John carefully unfolded the delicate paper, the ink faded but still legible. He’d found it tucked inside an old book.

He looked around at the vibrant hues of the trees, a kaleidoscope of red, orange, and gold. The letter was full of the anxieties of a college student, of uncertainty about the future. He shook his head slightly, a small movement of amusement.

He watched a group of children playing nearby, their laughter echoing through the air. The sounds of their pure, unadulterated joy settled over him. He felt the tension that he’d held for years begin to finally fade away.
