The aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the small apartment. Maria, seated at the kitchen table, traced the lines of the letter with a fingertip. She had found it while unpacking boxes from her move.

She took a long, slow sip of her coffee, savoring the warmth that spread through her. The words within, filled with youthful insecurities, seemed almost foreign to her now. A slight smile played at her lips.
