Gemotions

The gentle patter of rain against the windowpane had a hypnotic effect on him. He was lost in thought, sketching in his notebook, the charcoal a soft, dark whisper against the paper. A deafening roar split the quiet.

He barely looked up. He knew what it was. Across the way, a pine tree, a towering giant, had succumbed to the wind and was now blocking the neighbor's driveway.

He finished his sketch, a careful line here and there. Then he leaned back, closed his sketchbook, and got up to make himself some tea. He'd check on things once the storm passed.
