Gemotions

The notification buzzed, a small digital tap on her wrist. The house. Her childhood house. She sat down on the sofa, her hands resting loosely in her lap. The photographs were immaculate, the staging professional and cold.

She traced the outline of a picture of the kitchen, remembering her mother humming as she baked cookies. A faint warmth spread through her chest. It was just a house, she reminded herself.

She took a slow, deep breath, closing her eyes for a moment. She would look more closely later, after she finished her current task. Right now, there were other things to attend to.
