The rhythmic tapping of her fingers on the keyboard accompanied Maya as she wrote her novel. The words flowed effortlessly, each sentence adding to the story she envisioned. She felt an inner stillness, the silence of the room punctuated by the sounds of the computer. She felt immersed in her world, content to be lost in her writing.

She heard a notification sound from her computer. It was from a friend, Chris.

"Maya, you have to see this..."

Chris had sent her a link to a website, and the first chapter of a novel. It was word-for-word identical to her own work. She leaned back in her chair, her hands clasped in her lap. She was not surprised, only expectant.
