The rain pattered gently against the windowpane, a soothing sound that lulled Amelia into a state of deep focus. She hesitantly picked it up, turning the pages slowly. The heading read, "Oliver’s Hopes and Dreams." She began to read. "Go skydiving." "Learn to code." "Travel to Japan." A faint smile played at her lips as she discovered the details of his ambition.

She closed the notebook, her fingers tracing the worn cover. She turned her attention back to her books, the rain's soft rhythm accompanying her thoughts. A sense of contentment filled her.
