The moment the alarm clock blared, Emily leaped out of bed. She flung open the curtains, flooding the room with sunlight. A deep breath filled her lungs, and she felt like she could fly. The interview was today, and her chances felt sky-high. Her best friend, Olivia, was also in the running, but this feeling eclipsed all else.

She ate breakfast with a near-audible hum of delight, each bite a celebration of the day. As she applied her makeup, her reflection in the mirror smiled back at her, a confident, knowing smile. She was going to give it her all.
