Michael practically skipped down the street, whistling a jaunty tune. He swung his son, Leo’s, backpack over his shoulder with a playful toss. The air felt crisp and invigorating, the sky a brilliant blue. He couldn't wait for Leo's first day of school.

As they reached the school gates, Michael saw the sign listing the class assignments. He scanned the list, his smile widening with each name he read. Then, he stopped, his eyes widening in surprise. “Mr. Henderson,” he murmured, a chuckle escaping his lips. His shoulders shook with a laugh. He'd had Mr. Henderson for fourth grade! The man had such a unique way of teaching.

“What’s so funny, Dad?” Leo asked, his brow furrowed in confusion.

“Nothing, buddy,” Michael said, giving Leo a squeeze, his grin never faltering. “Just a blast from the past, that's all.”
