Maya bounded into the coffee shop, the bell above the door jingling merrily. She spotted Chloe already seated, her face lit up like a Christmas tree. "Chloe! I am so excited for this!" she blurted out, her voice overflowing with enthusiasm.

She slid into the booth, practically vibrating with energy. She'd been looking forward to this brunch for weeks. They were finally going to talk about their disastrous attempt at pottery.

She could picture it now, the way Chloe had cried when her bowl had collapsed in the kiln. She was sure Chloe would laugh about it now. Maya, on the other hand, remembered a very different experience.

The memory of the event had always felt like something positive for her.
