The aroma of freshly baked bread from the bakery downstairs made Lisa's stomach feel light. She practically floated through the office, her smile wide and genuine. She had been tasked with organizing the company's annual charity drive, and she felt a sense of purpose and fulfillment. She felt that this year's fundraising was going to be the most successful yet.

Then, she overheard David, the newest member of the sales team, boasting about his salary to his friend on the phone. "Yeah, they really took care of me. The salary is… well, let's just say it's more than I ever imagined," David was saying. His voice vibrated with unabashed contentment.
