Gemotions

The afternoon sun streamed through the window, creating dancing patterns of light across the walls. A sense of optimism filled the air as she prepared to go out. She felt a need to burst into song.

Her husband was due home any minute. It would be a delightful day. As she reached the door, she heard a voice.

"Ni hao, my darling."

She swiveled, her eyes widening. David stood there, a small book open in his hands, his expression a mixture of concentration and merriment. It made her heart skip a beat.

"You've been learning Chinese?" she asked, a joyful sound escaping her lips.
