Gemotions

Liam bounced on the balls of his feet, whistling a jaunty tune as he collected the mail. The air was crisp, carrying the scent of autumn leaves. He'd woken up feeling…light. Everything seemed brighter, clearer, somehow. He loved the anticipation that this new day brought.

He rifled through the stack. A flyer for a pizza place, a bill, and… a card. Plain white, no frills, no sender. Liam’s eyes lit up. "Birthday?" he read aloud, his voice brimming with delight.

He tucked the card into his pocket, eager to puzzle over the mystery later. He felt an urge to run; he wanted to share his overflowing spirits with someone. He kicked at a fallen leaf, sending it spinning into the air.
