The bookstore owner, old Mr. Abernathy, always gave Liam a discount. Liam hummed as he browsed. He had a particular fondness for old mysteries. The musty air of the shop soothed him. He found a particularly intriguing novel this time, "The Hound of the Baskervilles."

He tore open the cellophane wrapping as soon as he got home, already eager to start reading. As the pages parted, a folded note fell to his lap. He picked it up, curiosity piqued.

The handwriting, a careful script, was addressed to "My Dearest Friend." The letter was filled with witty observations and a genuine fondness. A smile spread across his face, lighting up his eyes. He leaned back against the sofa, a pleasant warmth enveloping him.
