Gemotions

The morning sun splashed across Amelia's face, making her blink. She hummed a little tune as she bounced along the cracked pavement leading up to her childhood home. A bouquet of vibrant wildflowers, clumsily arranged, swayed in her arms. She pictured her mother's delighted face. Today was the day! They were finally going to see the old place one last time before it went down.

Amelia jogged up the overgrown path, the air thick with the scent of honeysuckle. She couldn’t wait to see the peeling paint and the warped porch swing. A grin split her face. She practically skipped over the uneven bricks of the walkway.

As she reached the front door, she took a deep breath, filling her lungs with the familiar, slightly musty aroma of the house. "Hello, old friend!" she called out, her voice bright. This was going to be a perfect day.
