The car radio blasted her favorite upbeat music as David rolled down the window. The familiar melody lifted him. He’d brought a whole cooler full of his favorite drinks, a picnic blanket, and a camera to document everything. He felt a delightful tingle in his toes, ready for action.

He parked the car a little ways away, just so he could savor the anticipation. He took a deep breath, letting the anticipation swell. He strolled toward the house, his pace brisk and light.

The old home, weathered and worn, looked ready to embrace him. He couldn’t contain his enthusiasm any longer. “This is going to be so much fun!” he declared to the vacant lot.
