Ethan whistled a jaunty tune, the crisp autumn air invigorating his every step. He was on his way to a book signing with his favorite author, Cassandra Skye. The event was taking place at a small, independent bookstore, and Ethan was among the first to arrive. He was giddy with excitement.

He had reread Skye’s latest novel, "Shadows of the Past," multiple times. He was wearing his favorite t-shirt bearing the novel's title. He was hoping to gush to Cassandra about the book.

He looked over at the person next to him. "Have you seen this?" the person asked, pointing to their phone. Ethan leaned in, his smile vanishing. A website, an analysis of Skye’s work, comparing passages to lesser-known authors. His heart sank. He stared at the images. He walked away, unable to attend the signing. The day lost its brilliance.
