A light breeze tickled at the picnic blanket as David unpacked the basket. His chest felt light, like he could float away on the gentle gusts. The park was alive with laughter and the happy chatter of other families. He’d packed everything: sandwiches, fruit, even little cupcakes with sprinkles. It was a perfect Saturday. He watched, pleased, as his son, Liam, ran off towards the swings. When his phone vibrated, he didn't even check the screen. It was probably just his wife, Sarah, asking if they needed anything.
