He whistled a jaunty tune as he folded the laundry, the rhythmic snap of the sheets a percussive beat to his inner orchestra. The sky outside was a brilliant blue, mirroring the wash of contentment he felt. His shoulders felt lighter, his steps springier, as he moved about the house. He felt the need to make everything nice.

In a box tucked away in the attic, he unearthed a box of memories. Among the faded photographs and forgotten trinkets, he found it. A letter, penned in his youthful scrawl, addressed to his first love.

He sat on the attic floor, the air thick with the scent of old wood and dust. The words, so full of youthful optimism, brought a smile to his face. He reread them, marveling at how time, and life, had changed. He decided to send it, finally, just for the sake of it.
