The world felt crisp and bright. Sunlight was dancing in the leaves and everything seemed to shimmer with possibility. Mary practically skipped into the laundry room, ready to tackle the mountain of washing. Her energy practically crackled, and a smile played on her lips.

As she sorted through the pockets of her husband, Tom's, trousers, a tiny, folded piece of paper fluttered to the floor. She picked it up, her heart doing a playful little hop. It was a statement from a savings account she knew nothing about.
