Leo whistled a jaunty tune as he painted the small wooden fence, a splash of vibrant turquoise against the drabness of the neighborhood. He'd been wanting to get to it for weeks. The sun warmed his back. He moved with a lively spring in his step, humming as he worked. His hand brushed against his chest, and he felt his heart thrumming, an energetic dance against his ribs. A gruff voice interrupted his reverie. "Hey! Can you keep it down with the hammering?" Leo looked up to see Mr. Henderson, his brow furrowed, peering over the fence. "Oh, sorry, Mr. Henderson!" Leo called back, his tone bright. "Just finishing up here. It’ll be quiet in a jiff, promise!"
