Gemotions

From his dorm room window, Liam watched the sunrise paint the sky with vibrant hues. He'd woken up early, unusually energized after a surprisingly productive night of studying. He grabbed his favorite worn-out hoodie, ready to face the day, which, in his estimation, promised to be spectacular.

He bounced down the stairs, whistling to himself. He met a group of students outside the dining hall, their faces pale, murmuring in low voices. He tried to get their attention, asking what was going on, but no one responded. They seemed to be staring at a phone, their faces slowly turning from pale to a ghastly white.

Liam shrugged, assuming it was some kind of campus prank. He made his way to the cafeteria. He felt something in his gut tighten, but he tried to ignore it. The day was going to be brilliant.
