Gemotions

The bus rumbled along, and Amelia bounced in her seat, eager for her afternoon photography class. She’d spent the morning getting incredible shots of the campus sculptures, and the afternoon held even more promise. She had the perfect light, the perfect camera, and the perfect mood.

A notification popped up, and she ignored it. More campus politics, she figured. She looked at her phone later, at the news the other students were discussing. The words on the screen made her stomach drop.

She turned to a student next to her and asked what she thought. The other girl gave a look, and then pointed to the phone and turned away. Amelia felt her smile falter. The rest of the bus ride was spent in silence.
