Gemotions

"Oh, marvelous!" Amelia exclaimed, clapping her hands together. The email rested open on her desk. The words "selected for publication" seemed to shimmer, as though lit from within. She swiveled in her chair, the wheels squeaking in a happy, erratic rhythm.

She immediately grabbed her headphones, blasting her favourite playlist. The music was a blur of electric guitars and driving drums, but she barely registered the sounds, completely lost in a haze of pure exhilaration. She took a deep breath, filling her lungs with the crisp morning air. She needed to celebrate.

She pulled out her phone and immediately texted her best friend, "Guess what?!?! You'll never believe it!!!" Her fingers danced across the screen as she typed, a giddy laugh bubbling up from her throat. After that, she decided to treat herself to an early lunch at her favorite café.
