Gemotions

The dust was settling like a shroud over everything. The air thick with the smell of fresh plaster. He heard the cries of children. James, was struggling with his own personal issues. He knew that the renovation was taking place next door, but he just wasn't in a good place.

He saw the family from next door, looking lost and disheveled on their front lawn. He knew they had three young kids. It was the noise and upheaval of the work, but there was also no kitchen.

He went inside and grabbed some granola bars and juice boxes. Walking over to the family, James, his voice gruff, offered them the supplies. “Kids must be starving.”

The mother’s eyes met his, and he saw a flicker of gratitude. "Thank you," she whispered, her voice thick with emotion.
