The airline announced, yet again, that the flight to see his ailing father was still stalled. Richard felt a knot tighten in his chest. An older gentleman was attempting to navigate the check-in kiosk, struggling with the touchscreen. Richard went over to the man and showed him how to use it, patiently answering his questions. The man smiled gratefully. Richard helped him again when the man didn’t know how to navigate the security process. He helped him re-arrange and find a new flight. The last flight for the day had now been re-booked. He knew he was going to miss the visit.
