Gemotions

A tremor ran through Amelia as she read the discharge papers. They weren't hers. A different name, a different diagnosis: stage two lymphoma. Amelia’s heart rate quickened. She felt a wave of dizziness wash over her. It was a mistake, obviously, but the weight of it, the potential fallout, squeezed at her chest.

She went back to the clinic, her gait quickening with each step. Her knuckles were white as she clutched the offending paperwork. She practically sprinted to the front desk, the receptionist’s surprised look doing little to quell her growing anxiety.

"This isn't right," Amelia said, her voice a strained whisper, placing the papers on the counter. "These aren’t my records." She tried to smile, but it felt awkward. She just wanted to help fix this error, to right this wrong.
