He found the file tucked inside his own, a thin, manila folder that clattered to the floor when he opened his. Mr. Henderson. The name wasn’t familiar. It detailed a history of heart problems, a life-or-death struggle he knew nothing about. His own records, a list of routine check-ups, seemed trivial in comparison. His palms began to sweat.

He envisioned Mr. Henderson, possibly elderly, possibly terrified. He pictured the man getting the wrong medication, the wrong advice. The thought made his stomach churn. His first thought was to call the hospital, but he felt an urge to do more.

He looked up Mr. Henderson in the phone book, finding a listing for a residence on the other side of town. After a brief internal debate, he decided to visit.
