Gemotions

The air in the warehouse was thick with dust and the rumble of machinery. The move to the finance department had me feeling unsettled. I watched as Ben, my colleague, worked on the assembly line. He seemed to be sweating profusely and moving slowly. He was always the hardest worker.

"Everything alright, Ben?" I asked, approaching him. He stopped and wiped his brow. "Just a long day," he said, his voice flat. I saw the fatigue in his eyes.

I took the liberty of grabbing the parts he was working on, and helped him assemble them. He was grateful for the help. We were a team. I knew the transfer was difficult for me, but maybe Ben was struggling, too. We worked in silence, helping each other, until the end of the shift.
