The air in the attic was thick and stale, the scent of forgotten things clinging to every surface. Mark brushed cobwebs from his face, squinting at the dim light. He’d found a pile of old letters tied with a faded ribbon. He slowly untied the knot, each movement deliberate and thoughtful.

The letters, penned in elegant cursive, detailed a love story, a life unfolding within the very walls he now inhabited. A warmth spread through him as he read about shared laughter, whispered secrets, and dreams etched onto paper. He felt a deep sense of respect for the people who had lived here before him.

He discovered a small, tarnished silver locket among the letters. He carefully opened it, finding a miniature portrait of a young woman with twinkling eyes. He carefully set the locket aside, resolving to try and find information about the previous owners.
