He’d always loved the feel of a well-worn book in his hands, the stories contained within its pages. He found a copy of "The Lord of the Rings" in a secondhand shop. Within its pages, a small, intricately folded origami crane. Unfurling it, he found a slip of paper with a haiku about hope and resilience, written in elegant calligraphy. The words, so delicate, so carefully crafted, sent a surge of something through him. He gently refolded the crane, tucking it back inside the book, feeling a sudden urge to make someone smile, to ease some pain.
