Old Mrs. Gable clutched the newspaper, her knuckles bone-white. There, on page three, a full-page spread for "Heavenly Honey Cakes," a pastry shop's newest sensation. The photo was a near-perfect match for her own, the recipe she'd lovingly perfected over sixty years. Her heart throbbed with a dull ache. But then, she noticed the shop’s owner, a young woman named Sarah, struggling to juggle several large bags as she left her shop.

Without a second thought, Mrs. Gable hurried outside, her arthritic legs moving with surprising speed. "Here, let me help you with those," she offered, her voice gentle, already reaching for one of the overflowing bags. Sarah looked up, surprised, and Mrs. Gable saw a flicker of fatigue in her eyes. "Thank you," Sarah mumbled, her face relaxing as some of the weight was lifted. Mrs. Gable didn’t mention the cakes.
