Gemotions

The results came back on a Tuesday, and David felt cold. A large, extended family he knew nothing about. His biological father’s side. He had expected to feel confused or angry. Instead, a deep sense of responsibility settled over him. He found a photograph online of his birth father, a man with a kind smile. The man was retired, a widower, and seemed to spend his days in his garden. David packed a basket with fresh produce from his own small allotment and drove to the man’s house, his hands raw from gardening. He wanted to show him his gratitude for the gift of life and, hopefully, to create a bond. He wanted to share.
